Bohol’s Chocolate Hills are among the most famous sights in the Philippines. If you see these cone-shaped, brown-colored hills yourself, you’ll understand why they are often said to be some of the most beautiful geological formations in the world. The entire area around the Chocolate Hills is great for long hikes to several viewing points and lookouts.

Tarsiers (Bohol)

The Tarsiers are the smallest primates in the world and have been a protected species since 1991. The best way to encounter those cute monkey-like animals is by visiting the Philippine Tarsier & Wildlife Sanctuary, which is located on the way to the Chocolate Hills.

Loboc River (Bohol)

The Loboc River is another popular Bohol destination for tourists. With the typical local bankas or floating restaurants, you can enjoy a ride on the Loboc River and admire the lush jungle-like vegetation. Another bucket list worthy highlight: Seeing the fireflies light up the trees at night.

The Bacuit Archipelago in northern Palawan attracts many tourists who want to make their dreams of a picture-perfect vacation come true. Undoubtedly, the archipelago is a unique spot with bays that can only be reached by boat, secret beaches, and even hidden lagoons that you can only see by climbing through a small opening in the rock face (if the sea is not too rough).

Nacpan Beach (Palawan)

The so-called Twin Beaches, Nacpan Beach and Calitang Beach, are located about 18 kilometers north of El Nido Town. Getting there is a pretty bumpy 1-hour ride, though the effort is totally worth it! Nacpan Beach is pretty long and offers plenty of spots away from the crowds.

Nacpan Beach, as well as its twin beach, are among my top favorite spots to see the sunset with intense colors and great photo opportunities.

PhotoTip: Long exposure during sunset will bring out all the colors.

The Kawasan Falls are fed by a mountain spring in the deep jungle of Cebu. The water here is clean and clear and perfect for a little dip. Also, the turquoise color of the natural pool alongside the lush green jungle surrounding the waterfalls makes for a real eye-catcher in any photo.

Rice Terraces Batad (North Luzon)

In the north of the Philippines, you’ll find the famous rice terraces. These terraces are among the most beautiful in the world and have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. With over 2000 years of history, they are among the oldest man-made structures in the Philippines.

Whether the sun is shining or it’s raining, the rice terraces in Batad make for awesome photos.

Beside Batad, you can also find rice terraces around the leading tourist destination Banaue. They’re not as high as the ones in Batad, yet they’re fascinating and full of history.

PhotoTip: Along the main road, you’ll find several lookouts from where you have fantastic views all over the Banaue Rice Terraces. I consider the main viewpoint at the top of the hill one of the best spots to take pictures.

Hanging Coffins (North Luzon)

The mountain town of Sagada in North Luzon is famous for its beautiful landscape, rice terraces, limestone caves and waterfalls. However, most of all, people come here to marvel at the Hanging Coffins. For centuries, locals have been attaching coffins at lofty heights on rock faces as well as in caves. The Hanging Coffins are a very traditional form of burials with the local tribes and an inspiring cultural thing to look at and learn about.

The Lugnason Falls are just behind San Juan on the gorgeous island of Siquijor. The waterfall plunges ten meters into a crystal clear, turquoise-blue pool, which is excellent for swimming and photography.

Certainly one of the most stunning beaches in Siquijor is Solangon Beach. It is a long, sandy beach lined with palm trees and scattered fishing boats.

In the evening, sensational sunsets can be watched here while sipping on a refreshing San Miguel from one of the resort bars close to the beach.

The Cambugahay Falls are located north of Lazi in the southeast of Siquijor. You have to go down around 100 stone steps until you reach the waterfall. Several cascades plunge into the pool here, which makes this place a fantastic photo spot. Plus, you can even swing yourself in the pool on a liana, just like Tarzan does.

Sugar Beach (Negros)

Sugar Beach near Sipalay on the island of Negros is a real hidden gem and among my top favorite places in the Philippines. This beach is totally secluded. There are no vehicles. No parties. It’s a stunning, white beach, which is perfect for a relaxed holiday far away from the crowds.

The drop-shaped island of Siargao is located in the eastern Philippines, north of the island of Mindanao.

In October 2018 Siargao was named “Best Island of Asia” and is often said to resemble a true paradise on earth. Sheer endless untouched beaches, dense rainforest with countless palm trees and mangrove forests, mysterious lagoons and a dazzling underwater world make this a unique destination.

Siargao is surrounded by tiny, barely explored islands, which are a dream for any drone pilot and landscape photographer.

Kalanggaman Island (Leyte)

Kalanggaman is a small island paradise between Cebu and Leyte and impresses with snow-white sand and a long-stretching sandbank, surrounded by crystal clear and turquoise waters. Apart from small beach huts and some picnic areas, there are hardly any buildings on the little island.

Not only is Kalanggaman Island great as a day trip, but it also offers fantastic photo opportunities, especially if you use a drone or a dome housing for your camera.
