Mallorca is a favourite among vacationers from all over Europe. With so many diverse landscapes, beautiful bays and cute mountain villages, the island offers incredible photo opportunities for both professional and novice photographers.

Similar to the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, which I thoroughly checked out last year, Mallorca’s most Insta-worthy spots are best reached by car, so I definitely recommend renting a car when on the island.

In this post, I’ve put together a list of the most instagrammable places in Mallorca, some of which are iconic sights as well as a few secret photo spots.

Pollenca is a small mountain town in the north of the Serra de Tramuntana. Its old town with narrow streets and old architecture can easily be explored on foot. One highlight of this town is climbing the 365 Calvari steps, and the views (and shots) you get of Alcúdia and the Tramuntana mountains are definitely worth the effort.

Cala Agulla

Cala Millor is one of Mallorca’s most popular tourist resorts. Stretching along the beach of Cala Millor, a beautiful palm-lined promenade offers a great selection of cafes and restaurants as well as 15 art sculptures of everyday objects, such as beds or windows. They’re unusual photo opportunities for sure but certainly make for a great shot near the sea.

Cala d’Or

Often referred to as the “golden bay of Mallorca”, Cala d’Or is a magical holiday paradise on the southeast coast of Mallorca. Picturesque bays, turquoise water, and a charming flair await you here. Besides the popular beaches, you’ll be able to find yourself a quiet, little bay away from the crowds and perfect for some “jump-in-the-water” boomerang shots.

Santanyi

Tucked away between rocks and cliffs, this off-the-beaten-path bay is small and only accessible on foot. The water is clear, and the beach is sandy, so swimming is just perfect here. Most of all, however, Caló des Moro is such a picturesque little gem that will brighten up your Insta feed.

Coves del Drac

Cliff meets idyllic beach: Cala Pi is the perfect place for everyone looking for relaxation in front of a fairytale backdrop in Mallorca. And if you want to make your friends jealous with tropical vibes, be sure to get a good photo here!

Es Pontàs

Situated in the southeast of Mallorca, this natural arch formed by the force of the sea and wind is a perfect little photo spot. It is very similar to Beirut’s Pigeon Rocks as well as Gozo’s famous Azur Window, which collapsed a few years ago.

The UNESCO-awarded mountain range Serra de Tramuntana is home to unique landscapes, including clear mountain lakes, high mountain peaks and impressive rock formations. There are so many scenic roads and hiking trails, leading to the most beautiful viewpoints. I recommend experiencing at least one sunrise here as it is such a tranquil and colourful natural phenomenon.

Gorg Blau

Gorg Blau is one of the mountain lakes at the foot of the Puig Major, the highest mountain on the island. This reservoire looks more like Scandinavia or Canada rather than the center of a Mediterranean island and certainly makes for a great shot!

Located on the northwest coast of Mallorca, Sa Calobra includes two fantastic beaches, which are nestled between cliffs and separated by the canyon of Torrent de Pareis. The village is not particularly easy to reach, as you’ll have to follow an adventurous winding road from the main road down to Sa Calobra.

Torrent de Pareis has been formed by a river that only flows into the sea in the winter months or after heavy rain. Once you hike into the canyon, you will be rewarded with an incredible landscape, unique rock formations and surreal colours. Torrent de Pareis offers so many amazing photo opportunities, especially in the early morning when the light is intense.
