Germany
Located in the center of Europe, Germany is a unique melting pot with incredible diversity. A dune-fringed north coast, gorgeous river valleys, forests and vineyards in the center, and the beautiful mountain landscape of the Alps in the south make Germany's scenery a magical mix worth discovering. You can enjoy the liberal atmosphere, architecture and nightlife in Germany's major cities Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, and Munich, but also don't forget to explore some of the countries' small, half-timbered towns rich in traditions and history.
History
Speaking of history, Germany has an incredible historical heritage with many world-class inventions and historical figures who, each in their own way, have had an impact on German society. You can dig right into the old times by visiting the medieval castles along the Romantic Castle Road, strolling along the Berlin Wall or marveling at the sheer size of the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds in Nuremberg.
Cuisine
As a local, I also recommend experiencing the country through its culinary delights. Southern Germany is home to a very traditional brewing industry and possibly some of the best beers in the world accompanied by hearty dishes, such as roast pork or sausages. Besides the Bavarian beer culture, Germany is also a world-class wine producer with vineyard cultivation in several parts of the country.
Christmas Season
Christmas season in Germany is a big thing! Throughout December, you can find Christmas markets selling mulled wine and Christmas decorations in almost all cities and towns, the largest and most famous of which is located in Nuremberg and attracts around two million visitors every year.
